Classification of Plastics
Plastics general-use can be divided into two major categories of General plastics and Engineering plastics.
General plastic such as polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polystyrene (PS), modified polystyrene (eg: SAN, HIPS), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), etc., these are the most widely used routine materials, performance, less demanding, low cost.
Engineering plastics refer to the structure with mechanical parts and engineering materials, industrial quality plastic. Its mechanical properties, electrical properties, on the chemical environment of tolerance to high temperature, low temperature tolerance and so has more superior characteristics in engineering technology can even replace some metal or other materials. Common with ABS, polyamide (abbreviated PA, commonly known as nylon), polycarbonate (PC), polyoxymethylene (POM), has machine glass (PMMA), polyester resin (such as PET, PBT), etc., the first four of the fastest growing, internationally recognized as the four engineering plastics.
